There's absolutely nothing I don't love about this eco-friendly gothic fashion line from San Fransisco Designer Allysun Maria Dutra.

Wir möchten party
Well it's certainly been a while since I blogged, was on a roll there for a while. However, school has been pretty hectic with collections in full swing and a Fashion Awareness midterm coming. Last Tuesday I had an amazing impromptu class with costume designer Derek Baskerville. He covered the role of a costume designer, it's differences & over laps with fashion design, as well as an overview of menswear through out history "as told through the tie". The whole day was very inspiring and lots of fun but more on that later.
Thursday evening my good friend Bri invited me to The German Sparkle Party she was volunteering for at LanaLou's. The night was pretty wicked despite my wardrobe not exactly lending to 'sparkly' or 'alternative.' I met some great people, enjoyed some good performances and fashioned myself a bedazzled mustache.

I didn't get a good outfit photo but I'm wearing this playsuit from Asos.com and managed to find myself a variety of other glittery things to put on.

It's All Down Hill
Hey everyone! So far I've been having a great visit with my mom during her week in Vancouver. We've been thoroughly enjoying my favorite parts of the city, great shopping and delicious food.
Last night we attended my good friend Alice's art exhibit opening called 'It's All Down Hill'. It was sponsored by Rayne Longboards who commissioned professional, amateur and many local artists to paint whatever they desired on their skate decks. It was amazing seeing the works and diverse styles of so many talented artists. It was also the very first art exhibit opening I've attended, not nearly as pretentious as I expected.
All of the boards are now displayed at Kafka's Coffee & Tea on Main and East Broadway where they will be for the next few weeks. Definitely worth checking out if not for the great art but the fantastic beverages.
Here are some of my favorites from the exhibit.
Then, here of course is what I wore to look like an artsy east end hipster for the evening. Success?
Since then Alice's adorable buisness card is now residing on my fridge along with some recycled bottle cap magnets I bought at the Kitsilano farmers market last weekend. Her blog is The Allegory of Alice, also worth a look!

"The Destroyer"
The last one is one of the two by Alice Vogelaar. I'm so sorry sweetie but the picture I took of the other one just could nooot do it proper justice. Also, do want this one.

Print Story
New banner is up! What do you guys think?~
Last week in my fashion illustration II class we did a study on rendering and properly sizing prints for our design illustrations. While I'm not really using any prints in my grad collection it's definitely a skill I want to practice getting the hang of, prints have always been a weak area for me.
Here is my final version of this attempt
It was done with a black micron marker and gouacheanother skill I've yet to really get the hang of.
This fashion illustration book is the newest addition to my library. The author is an instructor at the fashion institute of technology and Parson's and while my instructor didn't seem personally fond of it, I adore the style of drawing and rendering used in this book. Dear amazon.ca, thank you for having it $10 cheaper than retail price.
In other news my momma has come to visit me here in the big city for a week! On top of drafting final patterns for my first collection look and a mountain of illustration homework I managed to find time to do a mass cleaning of my apartment and bake cupcakes to welcome her. <3
In my attempt to be more stylish this summer, here's what I'm wearing to meet her and go out for dinner after her long day of traveling.
