Tea, Knitting & a History Lesson

Well, it's taking a lot of effort not to turn this blog into a knitting one but I can't help it when some of the most interesting happenings just so happen to be knitting related. Every Friday evening my friend Alice and I attend a weekly knitting group at Bird on a Wire Creations, an amazing local gift & craft store where we enjoy tea, snacks, and great conversation from some of the most interesting women we've ever met. This past week we got a special treat when another member brought in one the very first mechanical sock knitting machines circa 1904! She acquired it from an Irish woman who had the machine past down through her family for generations and it was still in full working order...

The machine was in phenomenal shape, its apparently very rare to find one in such condition with all the pieces still intact.
I apologize for the terrible picture quality, I didn't think to bring a proper camera with me. However, this is the machine's owner Zoe threading it for us. Her stories were absolutely enthralling, she actually spent years restoring an old brothel in a ghost town called Kaslo right here in British Columbia.

It's clear how excited & thrilled we are for such a awesome opportunity!

I promise more fashion related posts are soon to come, for the moment my class is in the middle of sewing sample and quarter scale madness. Once all the technical stuff has slowed down a bit I'll be able to focus on some more inspiring industry related posts but for now you'll have to settle for a whimsical picture of a tea cup.

Knitting Vintage: Sneak Peak

Hello everyone, I apologize for going MIA yet again. Life has been kind of hectic with moving back to Vancouver, starting school & finding a job. However, things have started to settle down and I'm really getting into a creative groove.
I promise more detailed posts are to come but for now here's a sneak peak of what I've been working on...

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!
